Later wе ԁесіԁеԁ tο hаνе thе house rent out, wе wουƖԁ hаνе give thе same agent thіѕ job аƖѕο bυt thе truth οf thе matter іѕ thаt thе agent wουƖԁ want tο handle іt professionally аnԁ thе occupant mау nοt bе аbƖе tο reason along wіth hіm later. If уου notice, уου wіƖƖ discovered thаt thе price wе аrе offering іѕ far below standard price, thіѕ іѕ enough fοr уου tο know thаt wе аrе nοt аftеr thе rental fee bυt thе absolute care fοr thе property. I know thеrе іѕ nο way I саn bе sure thаt уου аrе thе rіɡht person tο live іn thе house bесаυѕе wе won’t bе аbƖе tο see physical before sending уου thе keys аnԁ thе documents tο occupy thе space. Could be a scam. People who rent out homes but don’t live in the area will hire a property management company to maintain the property and take care of leasing it. You should not make a deposit before you even see the property, and you definitely shouldn’t send money before signing a formal lease.
IT’s definitely a scam.
1. Craigslist.
2. Too good to be true.
3. Africa. (telephone code is 234, that’s Nigeria, worst scammers in the world.)
4. Absentee owners usually use a property management servie.
5. Psychobabble about wanting to find someone who will take care of his (fake) property.
6. He’s already harassing you to pay him.
This is a scam… look how they offer way too much information about themselves. They are insisting on a quick decision and telling you to send the money right away. There are all kinds of scams coming out of Africa. I hate to generalize, but if you get anything online originating from Africa, there is definite cause to be suspicious. There are financial, inheritance, dating and housing scams.
If there was a real estate agent involved, you would be dealing with the agent and things would never seem abnormal. Even if it was legit, who’s going to take care of things should something go wrong in the house. You want to deal with an owner who is going to be nearby with whom you can effectively address your needs as a tenant.
This reeks SCAM! So sorry you gave him so much information.
Contact the county and find out who owns the house. I’ll bet they are not in Africa. You should also report this to the local police dept.
It is a scam. This has been going on in San Antonio for a while that I am aware of. I’m a Realtor, and the office I’m at handles many rentals. A few times, people have shown up in San Antonio, claiming to have rented a house off Craigslist, only to find out it is owned by someone they had no contact with, and managed by a real estate office. I don’t think any of them have gotten any money back.
ITS A SCAM. Many people fall for this, and lose money. DONT send any money!
Definitely a scam, do not cash anything they send you – give it right to the police in the original envelope along with any emails you have from this person with the full header so they can track the ip address. Be prepared to now be contacted by many other scamers as they have your address and phone nr
