But you are actually sending your own money since your bank will contact you 3 weeks later that the money order was counterfeit. Also, I would not consider shipping pets anywhere. Do you know how many pets die in transit every yet. Do not adopt to anyone who won't send you a personal reference and a vet reference - and then check them! Do a background check of sorts on this Mary Smith. I'm not sure about all the resources there are out there but you could find out some of the vets in her area and send inquiries to them to see if they have ever heard about this person. If she's willing to pay for transporting the cat then it sounds like she has some influence(money) so she shouldn't be that hard to check up on. You could also find someone closer to home to give the cat to. That way they would be easier to check up on. I've always found it to be right to trust your gut instinct in most cases.
