We rescued this beautiful Husky boy off the streets a couple weeks ago. We got him his shots and got him neutered and he’s just the sweetest guy and as much as I would love to keep him and give him a good home, at this moment I just don’t think my family could do it, so we are trying to find a good home for him. Well to get people to see him I put up a classified ad on Petfinder.com. I put a rather detailed description of him in the ad, along with a picture and have gotten three responses for him;

The first one:

How are you doing today with your family,I m Mr Jerry Morgan from UK and i was searching thru the Pet classified site and i saw your Ad’s which i m really interested in adopting from you..I m a married man with a Daughter,So i will like you to tell me the present condition of the pet,why did you post it online for adoption and the last asking price for it as well coz i m adopting the pet for my darling Daughter(CHRISTY) for her upcoming birthday as a gift for her and we live in a good and conducive home …Email me so that we can talk much more better..

After reading it, I got a funny feeling from it, but I replied to him that we wanted a more localized adoption and that he should look for a rescue closer to him. Several hours later a received another,

Response to your posted advert on pet finder.com.I’m Jon Mark and i am interested in adopting your pet to be part of our family.We are indeed a pet lover likewise, my daughter Josie.My daughter cherish pet a lots.and have passions for them also. Please i will like to know the present conditions of the pet and if you are the real owner of the pet. I will also like you to let me know the adoption fee for the pet.Please get back to me if it is still available for adoption.Hope to hear back from you as soon as possible.

Now this one let me with a bad taste in my mouth and a growing suspicion. It sounded very similar and again, he wanted the dog for his daughter and the grammar was terrible. A couple hours after that I received yet another e-mail for him,

How are you today?
I came accross your advert on petfinder about your adorable pet for
adoption.i am willing to adopt the your pet for my 10 years old Daughter because
she love pet so much and i’m a pet lover as well.i will like to know if the pet
is still available for sale and it picture if available for more satisfaction..i
wait your quick response.

Does anyone else see the growing pattern? I have ignored the last two e-mails as I am now fairly sure it is the same person, as each e-mail was from a gmail account (though they all matched the name used in the e-mail) and they are all practically identical. I feel like I am trying to be scammed, does anyone else see the same thing? Also, they ask about the condition of the dog and the last one asks for a picture, when my ad states his condition (on his way to being neutered and almost blind) and includes a clear picture of him.

Does anyone breed or know people that breed papillons?

i want a puppy papillon, but i dont want to get one from a pet store or online. im afriaid it will be a scam or the pull be from a puppy mill. if people have puppies for sale or know people that do, that i can trust i would be happy to get one from you. (:

I want to get a puppy of a special breed and small to have with me all the time. I have seen many ads on Yahoo pets and for some reason when you contact the people the majority of them are in africa on “missionary work” do you think this is legitamite or could this be a scam to get money wired to them? I woudl ahte to loose the money that I have been saving for a dog if its not a dog I’ll get but a broken heart.

I have been talking to a man on craigslist about A husky puppy…. We have emailed back and forth for a while and My boyfriend and I decided we would like to re-home the puppy. While the man asks for no re-homing fee, He asked that I pay half the shipping since he lives pretty far away. I was feeling pretty comfortable with this guy, and then I get an email from the “pet shipping” place….. It asks for me to make payments through western union to a name in Cameroon…. This is definitely a scam right? I mean an IPATA logo is atop of the page and it has all the right info attached but then at the bottom it said to make a payment to Western union. I’m not sure what to do. I really wanted the dog. And I was wondering if anyone has used pet shipping before???? Also it said that a “Sub headquarter” was in British Cameroon….. I am deeply hoping someone can help, even if it is stupid of me to have to ask.

I’m trying to open a pet shop that specializes in parrots. I have my DBA and tax id number. I have bought an online grant program witch turned out to be a scam, so I’m more or less looking for a book full of grant programs….I know you have to buy grant packages…I am willing to pay if the program works, but if you know of where I can apply for free it would be better .

Has anyone bought a parrot cage from this company? Scam?

They look like they have some great cages, but I’m suspicious because their ebay prices, website prices, and price posted in kijiji toronto classifieds are all different. I would call the company and ask about this, but if it’s some sort of scam, I assume that wouldn’t do any good.

Are they legit? Has anyone bought from them or been to their warehouse?

theyre supposed to be shipping my puppy from st. helena to me here in tennesee, and after i paid the transportation fee, they told me the insurance onthe dog had expired. And to renew it would b $220 .. but i begged them and one of the guys help me pay $100.. i jus want to know if this company actually exists or is it all a scam.

I am very stressed. Been looking for a maltese mix or purebred. I looked at all the animal shelters for a small young dog as i live in a building and only found one reptuable breeder near toronto and none in toronto. I read info online that puppies from pj are from puppy mills but is there real proof of this? I called the vet that goes in twice a week to check the puppies and seat pj’s scar town centre that they are healthy and treated. Everyone online ad for pups were a scam. I am waiting to see if I can find one at a shelter but is there anyone that has purchased a puppy from pjs that is a sick dog. I had a yorkie that i bought ckc registered from a breeder and was sick right away. She recently passed after 11 years I am beyond heartbroken. I did a search and seen message board postings saying puppies come from mills. I contacted pjs and they said theygive the breeders name and info and comes with a 2 year health gurantee, u will be refunded not have to return dog

Yes I contacted everyone on from the dogs in canada book (Ckc)I also read it may be good to get a mixed breed because you are not passing down the same genetics that may show up in purebreed. So ckc breeders only deal with purbreed. How can I find a mixed dog other than a pet store. I looked on petfinder and every website on the net and every animal shelter reasonably close to toronto. All the ads in the classified are all scams telling me to send money and they will ship the dog. Not one of them turned out to be real. I am shocked. My heart is so broken and I know I should wait and i will if it means getting a healthy dog. But I havent seen any proof where these dogs come from pj jays im not saying u guys are wrong but I am not going out to buy one from the pet store anyways. I just wish I could find a good person who has a maltese or maltese mix. Half the breeders listed in dogs in canada in the gta numbers are disconnected and or not beeding for months or year.

I have a pet dog that has become a member of the family. Every time i take him to the vet (Banfield at Petsmart) I have to be charged a ridiculous price. Today for example, I took the dog to the vet because she kept vomiting overnight. Since I had so called “Wellness Plan” that the Banfield Vet Hospital has, It only covered a certain portion and I had to dish out $320 out of my pocket (blood work, exams, etc..). I think its outrageous that every time I need to take the dog to the vet i get charged a ridiculous amount. Please, if anyone has any good suggestions, please let me know. Thank you.
