So we thought we’d play with them a little. Now we have them believing we are someone they have contacted with a missing dog called Spot, which was lost in the Timmy Mallett Memorial Gardens in Cambridge (only Brits will get that…).

So they want money transferred by Western Union. They are just giving a name and a Nigerian state. Can you transfer money that way (not that we are going to). We want to either get some details on them to send to the police, or that we can use to teach them a lesson.

We are stringing them along saying we have the money, how do we send it.

Any advice on how we proceed? We want to annoy them as much as possible, and possibly get them arrested – although I know it’s hard. Please – how do we mess them up good and proper!

(I know there are loads more but lets just annoy one..)

I then noticed the ad was removed from craigslist. (which was this morning) I just received a response, and this was the email:

And attached was a picture of what LOOKS like a purebred english bulldog to me. I find that too good to be true. Plus she never mentions the BREED of the dog. My husband’s been wanting a bulldog, and I’d take it in a heartbeat if this was in fact not a scam. Someone please reassure me this is a scammer? And where can I report it??? Does this go on often on Craigslist?

Ok, thanks everyone. That’s what I was afraid of. I know the ‘going price’ for those puppies, so it kind of sent up a red flag when I opened the photo and saw that gorgeous pup staring back at me!
Thanks for the suggestions – I am going to send a response right now asking to come pick the dog up in person. Will let you know how that goes, but I doubt I will get a response back since this goes on all the time. Pretty sad!

The steps to clear this “limited access” status was to change my paypal password, change paypal security questions? Questions like who was my first boss? first pet? favourite resturaunt? favourite teacher? I changed my password, and these questions. Final step was to submit a picture that has evidence I am with this current address (home address) on paypal and phone number.

I went to www.paypal.com fixed it, sent picture (information [address/ number/ name] was screen shoted from my bank account) – NO FINANCIAL INFORMATION WAS ON THIS SCREENSHOT.

Is this is SCAM?
or is this a personal virus on my computer that is causing this.

The good information about this is, I called my bank account, opened new bank account, and transfered all the money into new account except leaving $26 for a transaction that’s occuring (I made personally) on my “old” account. Am I safe? Do I need to change passwords

PLEASE HELP!
As soon as I changed information like passwords / security on www.paypal.com, they sent an email to my account saying these changes were made..

AGAIN, the original email from paypal about my limited access status contained NO LINK
Joel – Sorry I cannot post the email, it is too long. It did not ask me to click a link, nor did it post any links or images. All it said was visit my PayPal account to fix this information. It did not say paypal.com it just said Paypal. So I did, and sure enough www.paypal.com notified me when I logged in my account is limited access status due to it’s suspicions . Is limited access a real thing? Or something the phishing company made up? Does this mean I have a virus?
update! I just changed passwords/ questions for paypal.com I MADE sure it was www.paypal.com EVERYTIME the page loaded to a new one. as soon as I changed my password, I recieved an email from. Bold : service@intl.paypal.com THEN not bold (service@intl.paypal.com) … the so called spossedly phising scam one just had Bold : service@intl.paypal.com …
